The simple answer to this is “how long is a piece of string?” but it all depends on your requirements.

Most of our clients fall, in some way, into three simple categories. Individuals, small to medium enterprises, and corporate.

So, here’s what you should expect.

How much should a website cost for an individual or sole trader?

Not as much as you'd think!

We think for a start-up, individual or sole trader who is just getting started that a website should cost between £500 and £1,000.

This might seem like a significant outlay to some but if your website lasts 5 years then that’s less than 60p a day!

Your website is going to be the online representation of your brand, personality, and business… it should amplify your services and your USP but, when you’re just starting out, it doesn’t have to do absolutely everything. We find that for entrepreneurs who have a great idea, simple and stylish is better.

We’ve tailored our “Getting Started” package to this target market. For new business, all they have to do is send us some basic info, their logo and we can put together their new online home in just 7 days.

So, compared to start-ups how much does web design cost for an SME?

SME’s as a group cover an incredible range of industries, professions, and sectors. We’ve supported customers from hotels, restaurants, wealth management firms, care homes, garages, trades and more. This eclectic group often have surprising requirements that make developing the right website a little more complicated.

There are two main categories of SME websites that we tend to take on. E-Commerce and non E-Commerce.

E-Commerce web design for SME’s can cost anywhere between £3,000 and £20,000 depending on the complexity of the requirements. (If you fall into this category and would like a more specific estimate, give us a call!)

Small to medium enterprise web design (without an online shop) should cost between £800 and £3,000.

And how about Corporate websites? What should they cost?

The sky’s the limit when it comes to big business and bespoke requirements. We’ve worked on websites from those with just a few pages to some with thousands of pages of information and interactive experiences! Just data entry alone for some of these projects can take hundreds of hours. Fortunately, this isn’t always the case. Some corporate clients don’t need all that space to tell their story.

We will always deliver a bespoke price to any corporate or unique client but would expect most large business web design projects to cost in the range of £10,000 to £20,000
